It was a quiet, almost lazy day at Shiz University, and classes had already ended. Undoubtedly, there would be quite a few students who had blown off their increasing piles of homework once again, but Elphaba Thropp was not one of them. As usual, her nose was already buried in a book, her deep brown eyes tracing the words of the pages. However, today, something else must have been nagging at the back of her mind, or perhaps she just hadn't got enough sleep, because she wasn't taking a word of the book in. Elphaba's eyes narrowed as she attempted to concentrate. Usually she could wander over the campus grounds to sit at the base of the old tree and find it relaxing. Today, however, reading the book any further would be of no use. With a frustrated sigh, Elphaba snapped the book closed irritably, glaring around as if attempting to some person who could be held responsible of her lack of concentration today. The Campus grounds appeared empty, and the few students who did wander it were far off, their voices muffled by the distance. She seemed to be alone. Not that she minded, really. In fact, she'd grown quite accustomed to it over the course of her young life. Seeing as her skin was, well, green and all, it sort of went without saying.
Seeing as she had given up on her book, Elphaba slipped it into her bag and stood up. The sun was still high in the sky, and there was no point in heading back to her dorm just yet. This year, in fact, her first year at Shiz University, she had been unwillingly paired with Galinda Upland, who, to put it plainly, was the exact opposite of Elphaba. Perky, blonde, and popular. It was no wonder that the two hadn't got along at first. And yet, strangely, ever since the night of the party, they seemed to have become something close to friends. Unlikely and odd as it was, it was true. This was why Elphaba, instead of currently being dressed in her usual dark attire, was wearing a navy skirt and white top that Galinda had practically forced upon her. Her long black hair had been let loose from its usual braid and now fell down her shoulders and back under the distinctive black, pointed hat she had taken to wearing lately. Though it had been given to her as a mere prank, she thought it rather...quirky. Her perky roommate had forced a "make-over" upon her, and Elphaba wasn't entirely sure of how she felt about this. At any rate, she wished for peace and quiet a bit longer, so no, she wouldn't return to her dorm yet.
Instead, she found herself wandering deeper across the grounds, into the denser, quiet area where she could think, since her ability to read seemed to have presently deserted her.

Lovely day...for a walk? Pssh. Fiyero didn't see what was so astounding about nature anyway. Since its nearly twilight, and the sun will be setting soon, the way to the Old Forest will be barred by school policy. Not that that's a barrier to a young man such as Master Tiggular here. Even so, the supersticious folk can't seem to bite their tongues. They believe the Old Forest to become haunted at night. After all, why else would Shiz ban the place when the hours of darkness fell? So this was why Fiyero was now wandering toward it, trying to look aimless. Not that he is supersticious himself--no, of course not! That would be silly. But he can't seem to keep his nose out of trouble even for a day, and so has been dared to spend the night in this forest. It is because of this; his pride with will not let him turn down any dare, and his own curiousity that Fiyero heads toward the forest. After all, how bad can it be? He finds nature boring. It's just a bunch of trees, water, green...
Then again, green can be rather interesting.
He can hardly believe his eyes as he spots her wandering toward the forest. Fiyero has never taken her for an adventurous type, though he hardly knows her. Still, if it could be compared to her sharp tongue, he supposes it is not all that unreasonable. Fiyero quickens his pace. She doesn't seem to notice. In a dimmer lighting, he would have never recognized her. Long, raven-black hair has been straightened smoothly and let down out of its single braid for once. Her choice of clothing has been changed from her usual black frocks, her glasses had been removed and...is that make-up? Fiyero's mouth is slightly agape as he makes to catch up on her. That couldn't be...but, there was no mistaking that emerald skin tone, even that black pointed hat.
"Miss Elphaba? Is that you?" His voice is almost a chuckle as he calls to her, a slight smirk crossing his handsome features. What on earth could have...of course. As brainless as he appears to be, it clicks in Fiyero's head. Galinda. He shakes his head at the thought of his girlfriend.
"No way..."
He doesn't notice he is staring, just gives her that same, charming grin although he looks slightly bewildered.
